Dear friends of Investigate Midwest,
I know you’re on the receiving end of many emails asking for your year-end contribution. It is why I want to take this opportunity to share why Investigate Midwest is different. And why we need your support now more than ever.
We were started in 2009 with the mission of exposing the dangerous, costly practices of influential agricultural corporations and institutions through data-driven investigative journalism. There is a vacuum of reporting on this topic and its very real, everyday impact on our food system, our health and our world. Investigate Midwest’s goal is to fill that void.
We do this through stories on such topics as EPA’s analysis that three widely used crop and seed-coating pesticides are jeopardizing the existence of more than 1 in 10 endangered fish, insects, crustaceans, plants, and birds across the United States. And this doesn’t even account for the impact on human health.
This in-depth reporting is the sole reason we exist.
As a nonprofit, we depend on the support of readers like you to keep this critical work going. So I am excited to share that we have an incredible opportunity to increase the impact of your donation through NewsMatch, a call-to-action to support nonprofit news organizations around the country.

From now through the end of the year, NewsMatch will double your new monthly donation 12 times or your one-time gift (you do not need to be a new donor), all up to $1,000 per individual. Investigate Midwest can receive up to $13,500 in matching funds, which means we can raise a total $30,000 during this campaign.
- OR TRIPLE IT! And new for us this year, is the opportunity to TRIPLE donations, thanks to a match of $10,000 from The Joyce Foundation. That’s right. If you donate $10, it becomes $30; a donation of $100 becomes $300 and so on.
