ONE DAY until our Iowa City event; meet the storytellers
We hope to see you TOMORROW (Nov. 9) for our fall storytelling event in Iowa City. You can order tickets ahead of time OR you can also get them at the door. We suggest $20, but it's a freewill donation that could be doubled.
WHERE: Poindexter Coffee in the Graduate Iowa City hotel.
WHEN: Doors open at 5:30 p.m. with the program starting at 6 p.m.
WHAT: Stories! And there will also be food, signature cocktails, and a silent auction.
WHO: Read more about the storytellers below; Iowa Public Radio's Charity Nebbe will be the host.
WHY: It's fun and for a good cause (investigative reporting on agriculture). Proceeds from ticket donations and the silent auction will be doubled through the end-of-year NewsMatch giving campaign.
HOW: We are so fortunate that University of Iowa event management students plan and execute the event.
HERE IS THE LINEUP OF STORYTELLERS: They include:
- Miriam Alarcón Avila is a Mexican photographer, and a visual, multimedia, and storytelling artist. She lives in Iowa.
- Lea Collins is a writer, teacher and mom of four living in Iowa City.
- David Ewing is a former Hawkeye and now a fully realized drag queen.
- Rob Merritt is a currently the director of communications for NewBoCo in Cedar Rapids.
- Nick Westergaard is an author, educator, and speaker who leads the University of Iowa's Story Lab program.
