It’s July 31 — the final day of our summer campaign — and we’re taking a moment to celebrate how far we’ve come.
Every gift helps strengthen Investigate Midwest and the investigative reporting we provide to communities across the Midwest and beyond. We’re grateful to everyone who has donated, shared our reporting or encouraged others to support this work.
But we’re not finished yet.
We still need $2,750 to nail our $7,000 goal. A strong finish today helps set the tone — and provide critical resources — for our reporting through the rest of the year.
Our journalists continue to dig into the issues shaping people’s daily lives: food quality and prices, public health, and concerns about the quality of our air, soil and water. These are complicated topics and essential to everyday life. Reporting on them well takes time, careful data analysis, travel, public records, photography, editing and sustained attention.
It also takes money.
Support from our readers just like you makes it possible for us to:
- ask the difficult questions,
- follow the evidence,
- produce high-quality investigations, and
- elevate stories — and the voices behind them — that otherwise go untold.
We’ve already seen how far this journalism can travel. During the first six months of 2026, our stories were republished 128 times in 14 states. Our reporting was cited in public debate, congressional testimony, articles and community conversations. Our investigation into pesticide use and cancer rates reached more than 100,000 readers and gave local newsrooms new data to examine conditions in their own communities.
That impact does not end when a story is published. It continues as people share the reporting, local outlets build on it and decision-makers use it to inform public discussions.
