Investigate Midwest’s team believes in the power of journalism to speak truth to power in agribusiness and policymaking.
Whether you’re new to our work or have been with us from the very beginning, you know that our nonprofit and nonpartisan investigative reporting fills a critical need in our country.
That’s why we’re so excited to brainstorm for 2025. The funding we raise during our NewsMatch campaign will help set us up for success for the year ahead — sustaining the kind of reporting you’ve come to expect from us — and allowing us to set our sights even higher.
Here are seven things to know about our plans for 2025:
- Investigating the second Trump administration’s impact on agribusiness, centered on the power dynamics, industry influence and regulatory changes that impact the nation’s agricultural landscape.
- Enterprise reporting on the continued consolidation of the agriculture sector and its impact on farmers and consumers.
- Deep data analysis and stories on the winners and losers of another trade war.
- Reporting that’s embedded in state capitols, uncovering local policies that impact farm labor and the environment.
- Expert agribusiness analysis and opinion from Dave Dickey, a veteran ag reporter who pens a regular column.
- In-person events: I am excited to continue the ones we have established, and to grow new events and partnerships, with even more fun for all who attend!
- We’re launching a series of live and recorded panel discussions on pressing ag topics -- like the USDA's investigations into Tyson Foods and other key issues impacting farmers, workers, and consumers.
Without you, these are just plans. With you, we can turn this list into reality.
From now until Dec. 31, every dollar you donate moves us closer to reaching our NewsMatch goal of $15,000. As of today, we need $3,022 to reach it.
