It’s nearly GivingTuesday (or GivingNewsDay, as we like to call it), and I know your inbox likely will overflow with emails from folks asking for your support. It happens to me, too.
Before I share more, I want to take a moment to recognize those who have already made an investment in Investigate Midwest during NewsMatch. Your early generosity is helping build momentum.
I also want to take some time to share a bit about why I do this work.
In the heart of the Midwest, where agriculture is king, we’re seeing widespread damage — polluted water, labor violations, unsafe food, rising public health issues.
These are not niche issues. It’s about everyone’s dinner table, everyone’s drinking water. Many of us have family, friends or neighbors impacted by what’s not working. And I’ve experienced it myself, after becoming ill from drinking polluted water from a public water system.
We all deserve better.
Which is why Investigate Midwest exposes what Big Ag companies want to stay hidden, and why we lift up local voices and potential solutions that might otherwise go ignored through our watchdog reporting.
To further champion this work, we’ve set a special one-day goal for Dec. 2 to raise at least $5,000.
