Caspar Dowdy is currently a junior at the University of Missouri (Go Tigers!), seeking a double major in environmental sciences and journalism.
Caspar is also our first-ever Scripps Howard intern through INN's Rural News Network partnership.
Similar to past news interns, Caspar will work on at least one long-term story, along with contributing to other projects and Data Harvests.
Caspar’s previous work included enterprise pieces for The Edwardsville Intelligencer on PFAS chemicals in water and on an experimental technique for growing corn without fertilizer. “Both stories showed Caspar’s abilities far exceeded their experience,” said their editor. Caspar also previously worked at KBIA Public Radio, gaining valuable multimedia experience.
Caspar's study of environmental science makes him uniquely prepared to tell the kinds of thoughtful, engaging stories that make science education accessible to the public.
